New details have emerged after a man fatally shot a teenage boy early Thursday morning who was in his 16-year-old daughter’s bedroom in a home in northwest Harris County. The boy was 17-year old Johran McCormick. His mom is devastated.
“I would like my baby back, but I know that’s not possible,” said Zakia McCormick. “A call you know, I’m sorry. He didn’t deserve to die like that”
According to detectives, his 16-year-old daughter let McCormick in the house and snuck him into her bedroom.
Her younger brother went to say good night and saw two feet sticking out under the bed, detectives said. He then went to get his father.
The father walked in and asked questions, but his 16-year-old daughter claimed to not know McCormick. The father then called 911, but an argument ensued with the teenage boy.
The shooting happened about 2:30 a.m. in the 22300 block of Bridgestone Ridge near FM 2920.
The daughter denied knowing who the boy was. The father then instructed the boy to leave when a confrontation took place that ended up with the boy being shot.
No other injuries were reported. However, the father complained of possible panic attacks after the shooting and was taken to a nearby hospital.
Later the daughter admitted to investigators that she actually did know the teen, and that he was a friend of the daughter’s and she had let the boy into the home. Deputies recovered a handgun at the scene.
We always hear men say if they ever….. But who knew that a father would be serious on that threat.. In this case just maybe if she would have admitted to knowing the boy he would still be alive.. When this gets to court he might get off like for temporary insanity thinking the boy was an intruder in the home..
